Mostly sunny today and warmer.
Flooding is much reduced as waters recede
Army Corps of Engineers closed Beaver Dam so less water is flowing into Table Rock Lake.
So they reduced the flow over Table Rock Dam into Lake Taneycomo.
So much less water around town.
Businesses all open except for restaurants on pontoons such as below.
Tourists everywhere busy shopping etc.
Everybody in a good mood.
This flood was in part due to politicians.
The law does not allow the Army Corps of Engineers to use forecasts - they have to wait until it floods!
The storm was forecast more than a week ahead of time.
The storm arrived just as the forecast warned.
The Corps should have been able to act on that forecast.
The Corps should have maxed out on electricity production - lots of gallons - and opened some of the gates sooner.
Not much water damage around here except for those who insist on living or working on the flood plains.
There is still a huge amount of water around that will take months to drain.
Unfortunately the spring rainy season may arrive before lakes are shrunk down to normal.
